Knowledge, Education, Yielding inclusive communities.
Following are workshop and campaigns to provide the KEY
● Media Campaigns: Partner with local media outlets to run stories, interviews, and documentaries that shed light on the challenges faced by people with disabilities and highlight the importance of preventing bias crimes.
● Awareness Walks and Runs: Host/Participate in community walks, runs, or other events to raise awareness about bias crimes against people with disabilities.
● Collaborative Events: Organize events that bring together individuals with disabilities, their families, community members, use these events as platforms for discussions, networking, and brainstorming strategies to prevent bias crimes.
● Community Workshops and Seminars: Organize in-person or virtual workshops and seminars in local communities, schools, and organizations. These events can provide information about bias crimes, share personal stories, and offer strategies for bystander intervention and support.
Workshop 1: Understanding Bias Crimes and Discrimination: This workshop will serve as an introduction to the concepts of bias crimes and discrimination, specifically focusing on how they affect people with disabilities. Participants will gain insights into the various forms of bias crimes, their impact on individuals and families, and the legal and ethical implications. Through real-life case studies and interactive discussions, attendees will develop a deeper understanding of the issues at hand and learn how to identify instances of bias and discrimination in their communities.
Workshop 2: Raising Awareness through Storytelling: This workshop focuses on the power of storytelling as a tool for raising awareness and fostering empathy. Participants will learn how to share their personal experiences and stories in a way that educates, engages, and sparks conversations within their communities. By harnessing the power of personal narratives, we hope to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create a more empathetic and informed society.
